Where do you draw your inspiration from? What do you read, whom do you listen to and where do you spend time to reflect, reconnect and renew?
In this season of reflection and renewal, I’d like to offer you a few resources to consider checking out, or maybe even adding to your reading or “listening” list for the coming year.
Many of my sources of inspiration are more spiritual and have roots in my religious faith, so you’ll notice that several of my recommendations have connections in that world, but I have included more ‘secular’ ones as well.
Check them out and let me know what you think. And please send me yours. I’d love to know how you reconnect and renew as well!
1) Thrive Global’s Blog Posts
Arianna Huffington’s team will always get me thinking and contemplating. Launched after her own crisis with sleep deprivation and stress, Huffington’s goal with Thrive Global is to “create something real and tangible that will help individuals, companies and communities improve their well-being and performance and unlock their greatest potential”. Check out her blog site here to learn more.
2) HBR’s Online Magazine
A great resource for the small and mid-market companies with which we work. Whether it’s developing as a leader, creating a stronger culture, strengthening your bottom-line or building a higher performing team there are always one or two articles every month that hit home. And they now have audio! Find their website here.
3) Holy Cross Monastery Homilies
My go-to Anglican Retreat House when I need some time to rest, reconnect and renew. Steeped in St. Benedict’s tradition of welcoming all guests as Christ, the brothers’ collection of homilies are inspirational, as well as thought-provoking. A great ‘listen’ to keep me grounded with and reminded of what’s really important in life. Listen here.
4) Carl McColman’s Blog and Podcasts
The author of numerous spiritual books including “Befriending Silence”, this modern day storyteller and mystic has a unique perspective on how to bring spirit into every day living. His “Encountering Silence” podcast has become one of my favorite “listens” to hear about others’ journeys and lessons along life’s journey. Check out it and his blog here.
A comprehensive overview of the stories that we often don’t see in the typical “headlines”. Topics include women’s health, climate change and environmental challenges and ‘beyond the fintech’ hype. Helps me to stay aware of what’s going on in our world beyond the ‘noise’ and dig deeper into topics that matter to me. For more info here’s the link.
6) Companions of Mary Blog Spot
An ecumenical community open to people of all genders, the Companions of Mary the Apostle foster inclusive and diverse images and languages for God and seek to support the spiritual journey of all people. Evocative, encouraging and thoughtful, Sister Shane’s posts always prod my consciousness and keep me from complacency. Enjoy her contemplations here.
And wishing you a peaceful and joyous New Year!
