We'll start with our featured member spotlight. Jim and Jeff Stanch are Partners of Runnemeade Plumbing, Heating, Cooling and Electric and have been CEO Think Tank® members for several years.

As third generation business owners, they have been leading and growing a company that has faced many challenges in its 60 year history. The story of how they have successfully grown the company in a highly competitive, commodity-based market by listening to the advice of mentors and advisors, learning from their experiences and relying on each other and their employees is one that has many lessons for fellow entrepreneurs. It's an uncommon story of leadership, as well as loyalty.
No one's in charge at Runnemede Plumbing, Heating, Cooling and Electric. Well, not solely. Leadership takes many forms and, in the case of this family-owned business incorporated in 1948, it appears as identical twins.

Greetings!
We've been talking about enlightened leadership a great deal over the past year - in our mailings, with our members and at our events. Our topics have ranged from dealing with the challenges involved in leading an entrepreneurial organization to what it takes to be successful to what we've learned from our triumphs as well as our failures. And practically speaking, how do we apply that experience - and the perspiration that goes along with it - to our businesses and our lives. In this quarter's issue, we continue to explore what it means to be a leader in an emerging enterprise - and - like any good entrepreneurial company, we're using the resources and recommendations of our members, facilitators, referral partners and colleagues to do so.

As the facilitator of our Senior Leaders' group which was started at the beginning of 2008, Sonia Stamm brings a unique perspective to the topic of leadership. Much as been written about what makes an entrepreneur - entrepreneurial - but what makes a Senior Leader a Senior Leader? And what factors contribute to their success? For her take on the topic, read on.
Many of you know we're big fans of taking the time to reflect and "be still". In our opinion, quiet time and self-reflection is integral to developing as a leader - and a human being. What's more, when you don't take the time to reflect, rejuvenate and recharge, you don't only cheat yourself. Your company and your family can suffer too.
Some type of daily practice is wonderful if you can make it work. Whether that takes the form of meditation, a quiet ten minute walk or a discipline such as Tai Chi, we highly encourage you to find something that works for you and incorporate it into your daily routine. Journaling has always been one of my favorites and Ed Ruggero and Dennis Haley, business colleagues from the Leadership Academy in King of Prussia have a wonderful article, "Charting the Course for a Successful Leader", that talks about the benefits of journaling and how to incorporate it into your life. For those of who haven't had the privilege, we also wanted to let you know about a wonderful book that's recently been released following up on a widely successful YouTube video. (Thanks to Conni Henshaw of Elmers, one of our members who brought it up at a CEO Think Tank® retreat earlier this year.)
"The Last Lecture" has become one of our personal favorites on what it takes to be successful in life as well as in business. Written by Randy Pausch, a professor of computer science at Carnegie Mellon who passed away from pancreatic cancer in July at the age of 47, it's deeply thought-provoking and tearfully inspirational. With such quotable quotes as "It's all about the fundamentals" and "Experience is what you get when you didn't get what you wanted", it's a wonderful book to read all at once - or at a glance when you need to be reminded about what's important in life.
